I'm participate in WAE Contest almost every year. In 1968 we take second place as 4J0AH behind ET3USE, in 2003 and 2014 I've been Continental Winner, but propagation on two last days during the Contest was dead on all bands, I never seen it before! In anyway We thanks to Organazers, 73!

Have conditions ever been worse? Four major solar flares in the days leading
up to the contest, including one X-class flare at 1200UTC on the Sunday which
completely wiped out all bands here for 4 hours - not a single signal from
anywhere was audible on any HF amateur band here for four hours. When
propagation returned, it was not too bad on 20m for a few hours. Not a single
QSO on 10m, though: I guess we have to get used to this for the next few years.
80m had S9++ static thunderstorm QRN, I guess from Hurricane Irma, a few hundred
kilometres to the north of me. I hope all our amateur friends in the northern
Caribbean islands and in Florida are all safe. I enjoy sending the QTCs in this
contest and it was good to work many old and new friends. Rig: FT-2000, Acom
1500 amp at 1kW to Spiderbeam at 10m for 10-15-20m, 2-element phased verticals

Bedingungen waren mal etwas besonderes, in der ersten Nacht nur CG3AT als einzige Station aus Nordamerika gehört, aber nicht ran gekommen. Ab Samstag Vormittag wurde es besser.
Es war das 2. mal das ich bei einem WAE mit SO2R an den Start gegangen bin und es war auch dieses mal wieder eine gute Entscheidung und hat einige Multis nebenbei ins Log gebracht.
Dafür waren meine Pausenzeiten dieses Jahr sehr ungüstig gelegt, zum einen am Samstag eine Stunde Pause um 14 UTC gemacht, war wohl eine der besten Stunden.
Am Sonntag lag eine Pause rund 30min vor dem Mögel Dellinger, ja so kanns gehen.
Negativ zu erwähnen wäre noch das überbreite Signal von UA7K auf 20m. Das Grundsignal war 8kHz breit, zu Hören waren sie +/- 30kHz, und ihre Oberwelle auf 10m.
Auf Hinweise verschiedenster OMs ist nichts passiert, HamSpirit nein Danke. Es gibt schon ein paar Youtube Videos und unzählige Clusterkomentare zu dem Thema.
Noch ein kleiner Tip an die IT Abteilung des DARC, die Webformulare der Soapboxen aller Conteste gehen nicht, und noch der ein oder andere Link.

Very bad condx - neverending CQ's with few answers, many QSOs with serial number under 5 = no QTC!
First night I made on 40m only 7 !!!! USA, 2nd night only 18, last 1.5 hour 50 - totally only 72.
On 40m I worked only 7 JA ... I don't remember such bad condx ... :( but I love this game !

This year from our FD- site with doublet antenna 2 x 31m @14m and
40m/80m vertical. Rainy and windy wx caused a lot of noise on the
antennas. The condx became even worst after x-class- solar flares
caused geomagnetic storms with radio blackouts. The contest became a
puzzle. Additionally the hurrican Irma trashed the Caribean and SE-
US and people had other priorities than HAM Radio. So, I felt the
activity less than in the last years because many ops gave up for the
reasons above. At the end condx improved and I was happy with the
result. This contest is and will be my favourite one because of the
challenging QTC- traffic. I look forward to working you next year

Für mich nicht nachvollziehbar warum UA7K für mutwilliges stören (und was anderes war das nicht) nicht disqualifiziert wurde.
Was sagt uns das, wie dein Signal ist ist egal, man bekommt ja nur ne gelbe Karte und den Europasieg.
